Weekend Field Trip

Saturday, February 20th, 8:30 a.m.

Doheny State Beach

Gull month continues with our trip to Doheny State Beach (25300 Dana Point Harbor Dr., Dana Point 92629, Thomas Guide 972, A-6) on Saturday, February 20th at 8:30 a.m. For more information, check out their website at www.dohenystatebeach.org. If you haven’t gotten your “Gulls Simplified” handout yet, I will have some with me to help ID them.

Meet in the south end of the El Dorado branch Library parking lot at 8:30 a.m. (on Studebaker Rd., just south of Spring St.., Long Beach) to carpool or else in the parking lot of the Beach at 9:30 a..m.  There is a $15.00 parking fee or use your CA State Park pass.  Remember to bring binoculars, a hat, field guides, a spotting scope if you have one, water & snacks.  Dress in layers, as we will be right on the beach and you never know how cold and windy it might be.  Heavy rain cancels.

Directions: Take the 405 Fwy south to where it turns into the 5 Fwy and continue south.  Take Pacific Coast Hwy (PCH) exit towards Doheny Beach and follow the signs.

Upcoming Field Trips: March is Madrona March (weekend) and Golden Shores Marine Reserve (weekday).  April we will be going to Debs Park (weekend) and Oak Canyon (weekday).  May is Sycamore Canyon (weekend) and Shipley Nature Center (weekday) for spring migration.
