Weekend Trip
Saturday, March 6th, 8:00 a.m.
Madrona Marsh Preserve
by Carolyn Vance
Join us for a trip to an “island of wilderness in the city”. Come and explore one of the last remaining vernal marshes in Southern California. We will look for early spring migrants and lingering waterfowl.
We’ll car-pool from the El Dorado Branch Library on Studebaker promptly at 8 a.m. Or meet us at the parking lot of the Madrona Nature Center between 8:30- 8:45 a.m. The address is 3201 Plaza del Amo, Torrance (Thomas guide page 763, E-7). The entrance gate to the Preserve is directly across the street from the Nature Center, where there’s plenty of parking and bathrooms available. Expect to take 2-2 ½ hours to walk the preserve. It’s flat terrain, on well packed trails. Expect to return to the Library by about 12:00p.m. Heavy rain cancels.
